Street photography: Discovering the tags, graffiti and murals of the city of Montreal
Duration : 3h
In French only.
We're proud to offer this photo workshop for a second year in a row with a whole new path!
Here is an opportunity to discover the achievements of Street Art artists, who are implanted in the public space of the city of Montreal, with art historian and photographer Robert Poirier. This art has long been categorized as a visual pollution and is still classified as mischief by the criminal code. These artistic achievements are considered today as work of art by the graffiti artists and the specialists, but they are also more and more appreciated by the general public and by the advertising agencies. In this workshop you will learn to distinguish between tag, graffiti and mural. In the same way, all along the way, we will approach as much the techniques used by the graffiti artists, as their codes of values and ethics, their motivations and also the growing commercialization of their art resulting from the hip-hop culture.
You will also be accompanied by Sylvie Poirier, professional photographer and director of Photo Laplante photography school. You will be guided and coached along the way. Guaranteed photographic challenge!
