In the early '60s, Mr. Albert Laplante, a portraits and weddings photographer , opened his photography studio in Lachine, on the island of Montreal.
Several years later, in 1970, he decided to move his business to Laval.
In 1977, Fernand Laplante, son of Mr. Albert Laplante, left his senior position within a large company in the photographic business and with his wife, Suzanne Rocheleau, acquired from the business from his father. The name then changed to "Photo A. Laplante inc.".
In 1978, it was the turn of the grand-son, Pierre Laplante, to join the duo on a permanent basis.
In 1984, Photo A. Laplante was among the pioneers of 1 hour minilab photo finish.
In 1989, to better serve a growing clientele, Photo A. Laplante decides to move into larger premises.
Ten years later, still on the lookout for an even better service, Photo A. Laplante presents its customers with a completely renovated and redesigned store.
July 2000, Mr. Pierre Laplante and his wife, Sylvie Marchitto, bought the company.
In 2002, with the purchase of a new digital-art lab, Photo A. Laplante started to offer their customers photo impression from the new digital media such as CD-ROMs, memory cards, diskettes, etc.. all this to offer superior quality at very affordable prices.
In 2006, Apple computers were added as a complement to our digital range.
After more than 40 years, Photo A. Laplante is a pioneer in the retail photographic equipment and demonstrates that the skills can still be transmitted from one generation to another.
